The Continuing Mission

The purpose of the Georgia Agricultural Land Trust is to promote sustainable agriculture at the local level by permanently protecting agricultural land in the State of Georgia from development.

Goals include:

• Permanent protection of agricultural land through the promotion and acquisition of conservation easements and other land interests by purchase and donation.
• Discouragement of the subdivision and conversion of viable agricultural land.
• Education of the public, landowners, professional advisors and the public sector about the importance of, and opportunities for, agricultural land preservation.
• Collaboration with other national, State and local groups promoting agricultural land protection.
• Acquisition of funding from donations, grants and membership fees.
• Development of an effective, statewide land trust organization to promote and carry out the aforementioned goals.
